In the middle of doing the A to Z Blog Challenge, I can’t help hearing Big Bird singing the Alphabet Song on Sesame Street.
So for your Extra Bonus Content, I give you… “ab-ca-def-gi-jeckle-mi-nop-kwer-stoov-wix-iz.”
This is episode 0096 in 1970, the first season. Big Bird sees the alphabet (often, written on a board or a sign) and interprets it as a long word that he doesn’t understand.
Lyrics
AB-C-DEF-GHI-J-KL-M-NOP-WR-STUV-WX-YZ
Is the most remarkable word I’ve ever seen
AB-C-DEF-GHI-J-KL-M-NOP-WR-STUV-WX-YZ
I wish I knew exactly what I mean
It starts out like an “A” word as anyone can see
But somewhere there in the middle it gets offly “QR” to me
AB-C-DEF-GHI-J-KL-M-NOP-WR-STUV-WX-YZ
If I ever find out just what this word can mean
I’ll be the smartest bird the world has ever seen
It might be a kind of an elephant
Or a funny kind of kazoo
Or a strange exotic turtle that you never see in a zoo
It might be a kind of a doggie
Or a particular shade of blue
Or maybe a pretty flower?
Naah, not with a name like that, uh-uh
